BTC Training Camp

Are you new to triathlon and looking for your guidance? Or maybe you've done a few but really need to get your butt kicked into shape this year? The BTC's training camp is for you. It will be based out of Prospect Park, and you can participate in as many activities or as few as you choose.

The weekend will be led by USAT Certified Triathlon Coach John Stewart will feature a swim Friday afternoon, a long ride on Saturday, and a long run on Sunday. John will be joined by USAT coach Jay Borok and cycling guru Conrad Kiffin. This is your chance to get comfortable with open water swimming, as we offer two open water workouts. Along with all this training you'll get educational workshops and a chance to meet other triathletes in a fun setting. 

Cost is $100 for BTC members. Please RSVP to Jon Blyer - hurry, the camp is filling up fast!  Jon will provide instructions for payment.

Itinerary*

Friday
4pm – EASY BIKE focused on pedaling skills/drills. This will also serve those of you who want to extend your weekend mileage.
6pm – KEYS TO SUCCESSFUL TRAINING. A short presentation on what needs to happen for your season to be the best it can be. We’ll also answer any questions you have about the weekend schedule and content.
6:30pm – HILLY RUN where we’ll cover how to make climbing hills a strength you might even enjoy practicing.
Sunday
6:30am – HILLY BIKE. We’ll cover strategies to effectively climb several types of hills including proper gearing, cadence, and when to sit and stand.
8:30am – RUN EASY OR INTERVALS. Short to medium skill focused effort, or interval training session.
12pm – LONG OPEN WATER SWIM at Coney Island
2pm – NATHAN’S for health food.

Saturday

6:30am – EASY/MODERATE BIKE where you’ll learn the skills you need for the open road such as riding in a pace line, hand signals, route planning, etc.
10am – OPEN WATER BASICS swim at Brighton Beach. You’ll learn all about your wetsuit, race entries, sighting, drafting, and how to swim straight.
11:30am – RUN EASY OR LONG at the beach. Cadence focused run on the boardwalk, or for those of you who want to go long, run back to Park Slope.
4pm – COOKOUT. Refueling at its best.
