I’ve been a runner since I was a teenager but didn’t learn to swim or ride a bike until I signed up for my first triathlon, a Super Sprint, in 2017. I followed it up a year later with a destination 70.3 to celebrate my birthday, and I’ve loved raising the bar for what I can achieve ever since. I moved from Harlem to Brooklyn during the pandemic and joined BTC in 2022 after a few years away from the sport. I was looking for a community of training, racing, and pizza partners, and I have not been disappointed by what I’ve found here. I’m always excited to see others experience the same life-changing impact from participating in this sport and reaching beyond their perceived limits that I myself have.

I joined BTC in January 2022, a few months after moving to Brooklyn. I got into triathlon because of my brother who, among his repertoire of adventurous outlets, had trained for an IM 70.3. He passed away in August 2019, and I made it my mission to race one in his honor. At the time, I didn’t have a bike, nor much of a background in any of the disciplines (other than swim team when I was 7/8 and a few fun run 5Ks in my 20s). Now, a few years into training and racing, I have some Sprint tris, Olympic tris, and half marathons under my belt, and signed up for my first IM 70.3 in 2024! More than anything though, triathlon has brought me more joy and community than I ever could have imagined back in 2019, largely thanks to BTC. I’m delighted to have the opportunity to serve on the board and give back to this wonderful community. See you out there!

I joined BTC in 2022 immediately after finishing my first (and only) sprint. Since then, I’ve completed a triathlon in every distance (olympic, 70.3, and full)! I can confidently say that my time training for the full in 2023 would have been substantially more difficult without the club’s support—attending training sessions, Masters swim, asking incessant questions in the forum, etc. I have no background in high school sports. My one claim to fame was ping pong club (rise up my fellow nerds!), so it’s extra special for me to feel like I’m part of an athletic team. Otherwise, BTC has given me a real sense of community here in Park Slope and beyond. I’m very excited to give back to such a nurturing community as a board member.
